This is such an exceptionally insightful excerpt from Tim Keller. Why does the human heart leap into a good story, even though we know it's totally fictional? What is the most ultimate and essential happy ending imaginable?
Hearing that made me salivate to write again. Maybe someday.

Amy, I stumbled upon this and love reading your thoughts. I'm reading Prodigal God by Tim Keller and really enjoying it. Now I want to read his other books! And yes, I hope you write a novel some day. I'd love to read it! I have so many wonderful memories of writing stories with you on B Ave.
ReplyDeleteOh, so many happy memories! It was such a treat to have a best friend just a few doors down... We'll see if all those writing aspirations come to fruition someday. :) Ben actually just got a copy of Prodigal God, because our small group leaders are reading through it this summer--I haven't started it, but sounds good!
ReplyDeleteThis is great. A friend in Canada told me that in the teacher's college of their church they have a course in storytelling. We greatly underestimate the power of it, and an investment in doing it better is time well spent.
ReplyDeleteAll in the appropriate season of our life, of course. :)
