Yesterday at our Adult Ministries Christmas party we sang "O Come All Ye Faithful."
O, come let us adore Him.
O, come let us adore Him.
O, come let us adore Him,
Christ the Lord.
Pastor Sam made the comment, in our culture "adore" is a feminine vocabulary.
That's such an adorable haircut.
I got this adorable purse.
Your adorable baby...
For men, it might feel awkward to sing such a thing, Come, let us adore Him?
But it's literally fitting language.
In it's first listed definition (Mirriam-Webster), adore means "to worship or honor as a deity or as divine."
And it's appropriate language. He is worthy of adoration.
You are the LORD, you alone. You have made heaven, the heaven of
heavens, with all their host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas
and all that is in them, and you preserve all of them, and the host of
heaven worships you (Nehemiah 9:6).
And--most striking to me--it's exhorting language.
Come on, people, let's honor Him.
Come on, my heart, worship the worthy Son of God.
